TAGS
Almost all Canvas objects and features use tags to communicate with external devices, compute and store values, and control visual characteristics. Tags can be numerous data types and accessed and updated by other features such as the following topics: alarms, trends, and data logging. Tags are easily modifiable inside the Tag Editor pane or spreadsheet-type software like Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.

DEVICE COMMUNICATION / RUNTIME
To connect CIMON HMIs to PLCs and other external devices, a device communication method must be set up. This can be done with a mini-USB cable, or an ethernet or serial connection over Canvas' numerous protocols. Device Communication allows setting up I/O Devices or Data Servers for these external communications. The Runtime page showcases the ability to upload or download a project to an HMI and the Canvas Simulator, which makes testing possible without an external device.

ALARMS
Alarms are a core historical feature in CIMON Canvas that allows users to be alerted when a specific change has occurred within the project. Users can set up alarms to be alerted to value changes, or when they meet or exceed a set threshold. Alarms can be displayed as Active, Cleared, or Acknowledged on the Alarm Summary pane.

TRENDS
Trends are a core historical feature of CIMON Canvas that allows users to track data linked to it. It can display tag data through pens, times, and time ranges. Trends are manageable using the control bar at the bottom of the object. Trends can also have a CSV file generated for the Trend data to allow for record keeping.

DATA LOGGING
Data logging is a core history historical feature in CIMON Canvas that allows users to track digital and analog tag data and save a log file of this data or display it with an object. The data logger will always collect data in set real-time intervals and in data blocks that the user configures for the Data Log Table. Users can save all the data from the Data Logger into a CSV file for record keeping.
