Feature Description

Data Logging is one of our historical features in XpanelDesigner. This property allows users to track digital and analog tag data and save a log file of this data, or display it with an object. The data is collected in real-time at specified intervals and in data blocks that the user configures. The generated log file can be converted into a CSV file and stored in a USB drive, or an SD card.

To use the Data Logging feature, the data logging model must be created with its registered tags.

Designer Functionalities

Data Log Editor

The Data Log Editor allows users to create new data logging models, add tags to them, and edit existing models. To open this window, click on the “Insert Data Log Table” icon in the toolbar or go to Tools>Data Log Editor.

Logger Settings

The Logger Settings tab can be found inside the Data Log Editor. Here users can name new data logging models, set the date and time format, when to start recording data and how often.

Tag List

The Tag List tab can be found inside the Data Log Editor. In this tab, the users can see what Tags are currently connected to the Data Logger selected, add or remove tags from the Data Logger, or even change the Format of the Tags.

There are currently no applicable actions for the Data Log object. This is intended, and there are no plans to add this capability.

Runtime Functionalities

Historical

CSV Generation

The user can export past alarm data to a CSV for record keeping. The user can transfer data to a USB, SD card, or File Transfer Protocol (FTP).

A CSV file can be created by creating a command set to “Save Data Log CSV” and attaching it to a clickable object.
