Exercise: Displaying the Logged Data with Trend

In this example, the user will collect data and monitor the logged data with the Trend object.

(1) Data Logging

a) Select [Tools] - [Data Logging] to configure the data logging model as shown below.

※ Refer to the ‘Data Logging’ manual for more information.

b) If you wish to check the logged data, select [Insert] - [Data Log Table] and place the object. Be sure to assign the [Data Logger Model] in the [Property Editor] for proper operation.

(2) Trend Configuration

a) Select [Insert] - [Trend] and place the object on the page. Next, click on the object with the [Property Editor] window open and configure the object as shown below.

3) Checking the Operation

Run the Simulator by pressing the (blue star) icon on the toolbar. Adjust the value of the tracked tag using the simulator and verify that the trend updates with the new values.

4) Utilizing Configuration Buttons

a) Once a sufficient amount of data has been collected, press the [Pause] button to stop new data collection. Once the Trend has been stopped, use the [Date Time Span Slider] on the bottom of the trend to adjust the section of the trend that is in view. Note that the trend now shows a small window of data collection in greater detail.

b) Similarly, the [Value Span Slider] can be used to adjust the scaling of the y-axis.

c) Users can also zoom in on the trend by pressing the (blue star) icon or zoom out by pressing the (blue star) icon. These buttons function by increasing or decreasing the maximum amount of time on the x-axis. Zooming out the trend allows the user to view the trend across multiple days, while zooming in allows the user to view the trend’s movement over the span of a minute. These functions are heavily tied to the usage of the [Date Time Span Slider] to select sections of the trend to zoom in on, or select a range to zoom out o

d) With a smaller time frame selected, users can also utilize the [Time Span Legend] to cycle through time frames at the desired span.
