Select [Insert] - [Trend], then click and drag on the page to insert a trend. Once the trend has been placed, click on the object to open the [Property Editor].

The Trend Object has four unique tabs in the [Property Editor]: [Colors], [Show Configuration], [Initial Time Span], and [Pens]. The features enclosed in these tabs are explained in further detail below.

  1. Colors

Background Color Enabled

Allows the user to enable or disable background color filling for the trend.

Background Color

With Background Color Enabled, allows the user to assign a background color for the trend.

Chart Background Color

Allows the user to assign a background color for the chart area of the trend.

Grid Color

Allows the user to assign a color for the grid lines used in the chart area.

2. Show Configuration

The options in this tab are used primarily to toggle optional labels, headers, legends, etc. for the trend.

Show Controls

With this option enabled, the trend will have a [Pause/Play] switch placed in the bottom left corner.

Show Time Span Legend

Displays the full date and time range covered by the trend in the header of the trend. Note that this feature is only enabled for a trend that is stopped. This feature works in tandem with [Show Date Time Span Slider] feature. With a specified shortened time frame selected using the [Date Time Span Slider], the user can manually cycle through time intervals of the defined size.

Show Tag Values

Displays the most recent tag value recorded on the trend for all attached tags.

Show Grid

Displays a grid within the trend area.

Show X-Axis Labels

Displays values for major ticks on the x-axis of the trend.

Show Y-Axis Labels

Displays values for major ticks on the y-axis of the trend

Show Value Span Slider

Displays a slider on the right hand side of the trend that allows the user to adjust the scaling of the y-axis at will.

Show Date Time Span Slider

Displays a slider on the bottom of the trend that allows the user to adjust the scaling of the x-axis at will. Note that this feature is only enabled for a trend that is stopped. This feature works well in tandem with the [Time Span Legend]. This feature can be used to zoom in on specific time frames within the trend.

3. Initial Time Span

The options in this tab are used to adjust the scaling of the x and y-axis of the trend

Sample Period (ms)

Configures the time interval for the data display. A smaller sampling time will increase the accuracy of the Trend graph. You can assign a value between 100 and the display time.

Min Value

Configures the minimum displayed value for the y-axis. Users can also opt to attach a tag to this property by pressing the (blue star) icon and selecting the desired tag form the [Link Tag] window.

Max Value

Configures the minimum displayed value for the y-axis. Users can also opt to attach a tag to this property by pressing the (blue star) icon and selecting the desired tag form the [Link Tag] window.

Time Direction

Changes the direction in which the trend is read, users can select a trend that reads left to right, or right to left.

4. Pens

This option allows the user to attach tags to the trend and adjust the appearance of the data points on the trend. Users can add a new tag to be tracked by pressing the [Add Pen] button at the bottom of the tab. For each new pen added, a new sub-tab will be added to the [Property Editor] with the following five properties.

Allows the user to assign a tag to be plotted by pressing the (blue star) icon and selecting the desired tag from the [Link Tag] window.

Description

Allows the user to attach a short description of the attached tag.

Pens Color

Allows the user to select a color for the plotted trend line.

Pen Width

Allows the user to adjust the width of the plotted trend line.

Pen Type

Allows the user to adjust the type of the plotted trend line. Users can select from solid, dashed. and dotted lines.
