This document describes the FARA N70/700 PLUS communication driver for Xpanel.
Communication is available for the following PLCs: NX7, N70 PLUS, N700 PLUS

Create a new device | For creating a new device activate the menu Tools -> I/O Devices or the icon in the toolbar. The following picture shows the first step of creating a new device. I/O Device Name: Give the device a name. This name will be used in the TAG configuration window of the database accompanied by the Station Name. | |
Select a network type
| I/O Device Name: SAMSUNG FARA N70/700 PLUS After selecting the OK button of the previous step, the [Serial Communication Configuration] dialog box will be popup as shown in the following picture. In this window, select the Device Type as SAMSUNG FARA N70/N700 PLUS and configure the proper serial communication parameters. Ensure that those parameters are matched with the device’s configuration. | |
Create a station | Move to the Station tab of [Serial Communication Configuration] dialog box. In this dialog box, all the connected PLC stations can be configured and registered to the Xpanel. Each field can be configured with the following rules. | |
Station Name | Give a name to the PLC. This name will be used in the database window accompanied by the Device Name. | |
Station Type | Choose FARA N70/N700 PLUS from the combo box (no other). | |
Network ID | This field has no effect. | |
Station No. | Specify an integer between 1 and 190. | |
16Bit Data Swap | This field has no meaning with this driver. | |
32Bit Data Swap | This field has no meaning with this driver. | |
Using Checksum | This field has no effect. This driver is always checking the BCC. | |
Comm. Error Message Popup | If this item is checked, the Xpanel displays a communication error notification message at every Rx and Tx error. Otherwise (unchecked), the Xpanel does not display the message when an Rx or Tx error occurs. Only when there is a data transmission (writing a TAG value to the station) error will a notification message popup. This message box will close automatically 5 seconds after. |

The table below shows the list of valid addresses used with FARA PLCs. The symbol character has to be placed in the first position of the address string. The address number follows the character symbol.
