6.8.1 Settings

To bring up the ‘String Editor’ window, select [Tools] – [String Editor] or the icon on the main toolbar.

(1) Add String Group

Creates a new string group. When you click the  icon in the string editor window, a dialog box will appear as shown below.

Single Column

Set a single column in an index. A single tag value can store one string.

Multiple Column

Set multiple columns in an index. A single tag value can store up to 16 strings. This type is used to construct a multi-language table.

Group No.

Assign a group number. The group number cannot be duplicated. You can assign group numbers from 0 to 32767. You can edit the group number by double-clicking the item.

Group Title

Enter the title of the group in the text field. You can edit the group title by double-clicking the item.

※ Editing group number and group title is available in XpanelDesigner 2.53 and above versions.

(2) Delete String Group

Press the  icon to delete the string group. Strings stored in the group will be deleted altogether.

(3) Add String

Press  to add a string in the column. You may register a digital tag or an analog tag to the group. The strings can be copied and pasted from XpanelDesigner to Excel and vice versa.

When the column is selected as ‘Single Column’, you can assign a single string to each tag value, as shown below. When you use a digital tag, you can only assign 0 and 1. When you use an analog tag, you can assign it from -32768 to 32767. Strings in the ‘Single Column’ can be shown in the string value object.

When the column is selected as ‘Multiple Column’, you can assign up to 16 columns (0~15) to each tag value, as shown below. When the tag value changes, the corresponding column number will be displayed. Strings in the ‘Multiple Column’ can be shown in the multi-string object.

(4) Edit String

Edits the selected string by pressing the  icon or double-clicking the item. You may change the value or string in the [Edit String] dialog box.

(5) Delete String

Deletes the selected string by pressing the  icon.

(6) Column Property

Assigns different languages and font types to each column by pressing the icon. You can use this command when the ‘Use Multiple Language Table’ option has been selected in the ‘Multi-Language Setup’.
