2.7.4 Copy Project to Removable Memory

You can download the project from the PC to USB memory or SD memory. After inserting the memory device into Xpanel, the project can be uploaded to Xpanel through the Xpanel Ethernet Loader menu. This allows you to update a project in the field using portable memory, rather than a connected PC.

Download Using a Removable Disk

(1) Prerequisite

- Make sure to format the USB in FAT32 so that Hybrid Xpanel devices can recognize the driver. If you are unsure, right-click on the USB icon and click ‘properties’ to check if the USB type is FAT32.

- If the file system is not in FAT32 format, please follow the steps below to format the USB drive. Make sure to back up the contents of the USB device before proceeding as all data will be deleted.

Use the following directions to change the USB format to FAT32.

a) Connect the USB device to the PC. Make sure all files on the USB drive are backed up to a separate device, as formatting will erase all data from the USB drive. Right-click on the USB drive and select [Format].

b) Select 'FAT32 (Default)' as the file system and press [Start] to begin formatting the USB device. You may receive a warning. If you do, then press [OK] to continue.

(2) Download the project from XpanelDesigner to a removable disk

a) Connect a removable disk to the PC and run XpanelDesigner. Open a project to be copied to the disk.

b) Go to [Online] – [Copy Project To Removable Memory] and input or select the path where you want to save the project. If you wish to also download an editable version of the project to the device, select [Download the Editing project]. Press [OK].

Make sure to correctly specify the disk’s root directory when you save the project.

(3) Upload the project from removable disk to Xpanel

a) Connect the removable disk with the updated project to the Xpanel device. Select [Removable Storage → Xpanel] in the Ethernet Loader dialog box.

b) Select [Refresh] and you will see projects in the removable disk that can be uploaded. It may take a few seconds for the storage device to appear.

c) Click a project to update on the list and select [Project Update].

- When you select [Project Update], the existing project and application files in the Xpanel will be deleted first.

- The [Project Update] button will be deactivated when the procedure starts and reactivated when the update is complete. An “All file update: OK” message will appear when the update is complete.

- Do not touch the panel during an update as it could cause a malfunction.
