Feature Description

Canvas has five available toolbars for users. The user can turn these toolbars on and off at will by clicking View > Toolbars. The available toolbars are as follows:

The main toolbar contains frequently used commands in CIMON Canvas.

The position of toolbars can be modified according to the users’ preferences. The toolbars can be dragged up and down, or left and right, for a single-layer or multi-layer look.

To show or hide the toolbar on the top menu, click View > Toolbars. When you execute the CIMON Canvas application, this toolbar shows up on the top menu by default. This toolbar can consist of the Main, Drawing, Arrange, Deployment, Color, and Font tools.

New Page

Creates a new graphic page for the project.

Open Project…

Opens an existing project.

Save

Saves any pending changes to the current project.

Save As…

Saves the project to a destination.

Undo

Cancels the last action made on the graphic page.

Redo

Reverse the last undo action made on the graphic page.

Cut

Cuts the selected object.

Copy

Copies the selected object.

Paste

Pastes the cut or copied object.

Zoom to 100%

Restores the workspace to the pixel dimensions of the selected HMI model.

Zoom In

Adjusts the workspace to be bigger.

Zoom Out

Adjusts the workspace to be smaller.

From this toolbar, the user can select commonly used drawing tools for basic shapes, lines, and text. The functions of each icon are listed in the following table.

Stop Drawing

This feature can be used to stop draw

Line

Used to draw lines.

Rectangle

Used to draw rectangles or squares.

Ellipse

Used to draw circles or ellipses.

Pie

Used to draw sectors of a circle.

Arc

Used to draw arcs.

Chord

Used to draw chords.

Polygon

Used to draw polygons. When a blank space on the page is clicked, a small pop-up window appears where the user can define the number of sides, height, and width of the polygon.

Polyline

Used to draw polylines. Vertexes are added whenever you click a blank space on the graphic page. To exit drawing mode, double-click the blank space of the graphic page.

Text

Used to enter text. Click the blank space of graphic page when you finish with editing text. You can add a new line by pressing the [Enter] key.

Image

Used to import images into Canvas. Accepted file formats are *.png, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.svg, and *.gif.

Text Field

Used to create an text box that is interactive during runtime.

Switch/Lamp

Used to create a switch/lamp object that is a composite of multiple functions.

Fillable Rectangle

Used to create a rectangle that automatically fills up based on a tag value(s).

Trend

Used to create a trend graph to plot historical data.

Data Log Table

Used to create a data log table that lists historical data in columns and rows.

Alarm Summary

Used to create an alam summary that displays alarm statuses.

Sparkline

Used to create a trend line without the associated graph.

Audit Log Table

Used to create an audit log table in the project.

The features in this toolbar can be used to layer, align, rotate, and invert objects. The functions of each icon are listed in the following table. For further help arranging objects within the project, users can enable the Snap to Grid option by clicking View > Snap to… > Grid.

Bring to Front

This feature operates by placing all selected objects to the front of all non-selected objects. The selected object can partially cover other objects.

Send to Back

This feature operates by placing all selected objects to the back of all non-selected objects. The selected object can be partially covered by other objects.

Bring Forward One Layer

 

This command is used to move a single selected object one layer forward. The selected object can partially be covered by other objects.

Send Backward One Layer

 

This command is used to move a single selected object one layer backward. The selected object can partially be covered by other objects.

Align Left

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the left edge of the selected objects with the left edge of the leftmost object.

Horizontal Center

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the middle of the selected objects with the horizontal center. The recently created object will be placed in front of the one previously created.

Align Right

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the right edge of the selected objects with the right edge of the rightmost object.

Align Top

 

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the top edge of the selected objects with the top edge of the topmost object.

Vertical Center

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the middle of the selected objects with the vertical center. The recently created object will be placed in front of the one previously created.

Align Bottom

This feature is enabled when you select two or more objects. Aligns the bottom edge of the selected objects with the bottom edge of the bottommost object.

Distribute Horizontal

 

This feature is enabled when you select three or more objects. This feature evenly spaces all selected objects horizontally between the leftmost and rightmost selected objects.

Distribute Vertical

 

This feature is enabled when you select three or more objects. This feature evenly spaces all selected objects vertically between the topmost and bottommost selected objects.

Rotate by Custom Angle

This feature rotates the selected objects using a customized rotation angle.

 

Rotate Counter-Clockwise 90°

 

 

This feature rotates the selected objects 90 degrees counterclockwise based on the center point.

 

Rotate Clockwise 90°

 

 

This feature rotates the selected objects 90 degrees clockwise based on the center point.

 

Horizontal Flip

 

 

 

This feature flips the selected objects horizontally based on the center point of the X-axis.

Vertical Flip

 

 

This feature flips the selected objects vertically based on the center point of the Y-axis.

This toolbar allows users to quickly access the Connection Setup pop-up window and run the Simulator.

Runs an instance that simulates the project for viewing or troubleshooting purposes.

Open the Connection Setup page.

Download Project to Selected Device…

Transfer project from the CPU to the device.

Upload Project from Selected Device…

Transfers project from the device to the CPU.

This toolbar provides quick access to features such as I/O Device Editor, Alarm Editor, Schedule Editor, etc.
