Feature Description

The Trend lets users track data linked to it, shown through selected time intervals. It can display tag data through pens, times, and time ranges. Trends are manageable using the control bar at the bottom of the object. This allows users to generate a CSV tag data file, select different time ranges, and pause/play visual trend activity. Each Trend has Basic Properties, Appearance, and Transform options. This allows users to customize the content, look, and characteristics. For in-depth descriptions of elements and design options, visit Trend Information.

Designer Functionalities

A Trend can support up to 32 tags, where each created pen can be assigned one tag. Click Insert > Trend or the Insert Trend icon in the Toolbar, and click and drag on the page to create a Trend as shown to the right:

Provides ways to customize the user’s Trend.

To ensure the property windows are enabled, click View > Properties > Basic Properties, Appearance, Transform, or Actions and check the boxes.

The Basic Properties window allows changing the displayed content and formatting within the object. The Basic Properties window will show up named as “YT Trend.”

Pens control how the tag being tracked will look on the Trend. The user can change the color, description, width, and pen type within this tab. A user can add a new pen by clicking on Add Pen. To There are currently two ways to bind a tag to a pen, there are currently two ways to do so: manual binding and smart binding. A tag can be manually attached to the pen by double-clicking the Tag field, left-clicking the chain-link icon next to the field, or dragging a tag to the Tag field. For smart binding, click Click and drag the desired tag name to the Trend for smart binding. Any tag smart-bound with the Trend will appear as a new pen with the tag bound inside the Tag field.

The Appearance pane enables the use of colors and selections to alter visible characteristics.

The Transform tab provides adjustable properties that will reshape or move the object.

There are currently no applicable actions available for the Trend. This is intended, and there are no plans to add this capability.

Runtime Functionalities

During runtime, interaction with the Trend enables reviewing historical data and keeping up-to-date with data collection. The user can look back at past data in a specified time interval. The user can also rewind the Trend to see past data and pause updating the front-end display for closer observation. When concluded, the user can return to the most current data and resume updating the front-end display.

For increased visibility, the Trend object can be zoomed in and out.

Trends allow the user to hide or unhide pens during runtime. Clicking on the pen will toggle the visibility of the line connected to it.

The user can export past trend data to a CSV for record keeping. Users can transfer data to a USB, SD card, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), or local memory* on Linux Xpanel.

A CSV file can be created by clicking the save button within the controls of the Trend. Saving can only be done on a physical HMI.

An example of what the CSV file would look like after generation is shown on the far right:
